Hello, My Name is…

Ukrainian Special Offering Update

For this edition of Hello, My Name Is . . ., we wanted to provide an update on the fruit of our special Ukraine offering. This offering was received in March in response to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. Because of the complexity of this situation, great care was taken in deciding who would receive the funds our Chapel family faithfully gave. Some of the ministries that we supported are Samaritan’s Purse, Unto Inc. (a ministry of Cru), several local Ukrainian churches, Ukrainian missionaries, and more. We were even able to support a church in Russia who is actively against the invasion and as a result, is helping Ukrainian refugees!

We received this thank you note from one of the local churches we supported. Within the blue and yellow Ukrainian flag is the Ukrainian symbol of freedom. This church used our support to send over a shipping container of various supplies to Poland to help Ukrainian evacuees. Specifically, this shipment included blankets, feminine hygiene products, tents, and other essential goods.

Samaritan’s Purse is offering relief on the front lines of this war. They have opened an Emergency Field Hospital and three medical clinics in Ukraine to specifically serve and care for those fleeing combat zones. Samaritan’s Purse provided thousands of blankets and hundreds of hygiene kits to churches to distribute to those in greatest need. Your generous support enabled us to partner with Samaritan’s Purse to continue this good work!

Our support of MissionGo’s Ukraine Crisis Fund is being used to build cabins in Romania for Ukrainian evacuees seeking refuge within that country. Through this fund, MissionGo is also supporting Ukrainian pastors as they house, feed, and minister to people devastated by the war. Over the past several years, Jesse and Bria Pohle, a missionary couple through MissionGo, have served many times on the front lines with Ukrainian pastors and chaplains to share the gospel and give food supplies to Ukrainian soldiers. Bria’s connection to Ukraine runs deep as she and her family have lived there for many years as missionaries and, as a result, have lifetime relationships with many people there. Jesse and Bria used the aid to directly help the pastors and chaplains they’ve served with previously in Ukraine along with aiding other families they are connected to. Additionally, the Pohle’s have gone to great creative lengths to raise money for their Ukrainian family. One strategy was a T-shirt/sweatshirt drive! All of the proceeds from this campaign went directly to help the country of Ukraine.

Finally, we also sent aid to Lifesong for Orphans, a ministry specifically centered around caring for the most vulnerable of people. They are currently helping Ukrainian orphans, widows, single moms and disabled individuals reach safe shelter and care in Poland. Lifesong is in the process of establishing a Ukrainian refugee center in Poland.

Because of your faithful generosity, The Chapel was able to give away more than $100,000 of aid to ten different ministries, churches, and organizations. Please continue to pray for all those effected by this war.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:6
