Welcome to the “Hello, My Name is…” monthly feature!
First, I want to extend a sincere thank you for your continued interest, prayer, and support of Kingdom Come and our partners. Without your partnership in the gospel, we would not be able to move forward in the mission to reach every man, woman, and child with repeated opportunities to see, hear, and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We created this feature to take time to share and reflect on what God has done in our community specifically in celebrating our new and ongoing partnerships! Because of your faithfulness, we are able to introduce to you Covenant Church - a new church plant in Baldwinsville, New York.
The story of Covenant Church is a beautiful compilation of God’s creativity and intentionality. Having just launched, this church has only met for a handful of months. However, God’s handiwork in the details of how Covenant Church came to be is truly remarkable! Two established Syracuse churches, Missio Church and Renovation Church, felt called to support a church plant in the village of Baldwinsville. This is especially encouraging for Kingdom Come because Missio Church is a long-time partner! Bernie Elliot, a pastor and elder at Covenant Church, exclaimed that they, the community of Missio and Renovation, felt an “unshakable conviction” to plant a church in this relatively ‘unchurched’ area. To accomplish this, Missio and Renovation commissioned their own members and pastors, including Bernie Elliot, to go and support Covenant enabling this church to be born.
New to Onondaga County and located just 20 minutes northwest of the City of Syracuse, Covenant Church is on mission to build, engage, and serve the community to saturate the area with the gospel of Jesus Christ. By focusing on their unique circle of accountability, Bernie specifically shared that Covenant wants to corporately engage and develop relationships with the local school districts. When looking back on Covenant Church’s story, Bernie joyfully exclaimed that he was “in awe” of all that God had done. We are too!
Please join us in praying that Covenant Church and their leadership team faithfully maintain their missional perspective and that, within this church, the Holy Spirit stirs up a compassion for those in the Baldwinsville area that are far from Christ.
