An Update from Lockport Care Net
We are blessed to be apart of God’s ministry at Care Net and see Him at work in so many ways. We started this year with an empty mason jar, ready to be filled with stories of God’s faithfulness and answered prayers. The jar is already filled with many stories of women who made decisions for life, prayers that were answered, material needs met, and many seeds planted. We are blessed to share two of those stories.
This year we took a step of faith and expanded the hours that we have on-site ultrasounds available. Ultrasound is a tool that we utilize to show the mother, and hopefully the father as well, that what is inside of her is not only indeed a baby, but their baby. Their own. We have performed ten ultrasounds on women who were considering abortions so far this year, some with appointments already scheduled. Melanie, our nurse, recalls one woman who held off telling anyone about her pregnancy. The only people who knew were she herself, Planned Parenthood, and now Melanie. She made an appointment on a whim. She wanted to see the baby once, before deciding. And that one glimpse was enough. Ultrasound is that powerful.
Lori, our client services director, recalls a client who, while expecting her son, would come to the center and meet with her (Lori). The weeks turned into months. And while both expected the pregnancy to last longer, this client suddenly went into labor. Her son was born, a slight two pounds, delivered by a heroic ambulance driver. Three days after his sudden and unexpected arrival, this client came into the center to see Lori, to tell her story of all that had happened. And to ask her to pray for her and her tiny son. Lori quickly prayed, bringing this baby before the Lord. But she also asked how else she could help. Soon this new mother’s arms were filled with baby supplies and a promise that not just Lori would be praying for her family. Soon the entire Lockport Care Net team was mobilized in prayer, from the staff to the volunteers, to the prayer team. All were praying for this baby and his mom. And those prayers? They were answered. Sabastian recently was strong enough to be able to join his parents for his first visit to Care Net.
