An Update from CMDA

I moved to Buffalo a few months ago, and it has quickly become home, in large part because of the City of Light Health and Ministry Center/CMDA (Christian Medical & Dental Associations). Here, I have people to do life with, to laugh and cry with. Here, I am fed (filled!) - both spiritually and physically.  Above all else, here I know I am loved and prayed for. Being in a new city, a new job (especially one in healthcare) can be daunting, but because of the Center/ CMDA I know I’m not alone. God is near, He is good, and He is at work here.” - Samantha Garas.

Samantha is attending Jacob’s School of Medicine, UB Department of Family Medicine. She will have some challenging and exhausting days ahead. Sam is just one of the many students, residents, and others who come to the CMDA’s City of Light Health and Ministry Center for support, education, great food, and clarity of biblical values and practices.  Many are on the frontline, working hard to serve our community.  Just .4 miles away we are at the gateway of the Medical Corridor.  It is strategically located to minister, train, and share the gospel.  Our volunteers include doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, chaplains, and friends of the ministry.

Soon Samantha will sign the Christian Physician’s Oath before God and colleagues.  Here is an excerpt:  “With God’s direction, I will respect the sanctity of human life.  I will care for all my patients, rejecting those interventions that either intentionally or actively end human life, including the unborn, the weak and vulnerable and the terminally ill.”

In today’s post-COVID, underinsured, and unsettling days, God is raising up Christians in the healthcare field to “Bring the Hope and Healing of Christ to WNY and the World.”
